There are hundreds of posts on the ATC website. Topics range from the 2 green system, aeration, and algae to winter, writing, and zoysia. Some posts get a lot more views than others, and about once a year I update this list of top posts.

Almost every turfgrass manager knows the current mowing height. Most turfgrass managers know the annual nitrogen (N) fertilizer rate. When it comes to sand topdressing rates, some turfgrass managers have that number.

Zoysia grasses are grown all over the world. I’ve seen them as far away from the equator as Oregon and Yorkshire. I’ve also seen them growing near the equator. The temperatures and the daylengths vary quite a bit between the equator and those locations far from the equator.

I bought a new book last year in January and got my hands on it in December. It’s the Compendium of Turfgrass Diseases, Fourth Edition, published by APS Press in 2023.

I’ve shared the posts from 2023 that got the most views. Then there are these 10 that got the fewest. For reference, the median post in the top 10 got 725 views in 2023.

Joe Gulotti has invited me onto his The Talking Greenkeeper show for a year-end episode for a few years now. This year he called it “The Micah Woods Annual Holiday Special.

These posts had the most views in 2023. They are on a nice balance of topics: three about growth rate and N, four about soil OM and surface hardness and topdressing, one about soil pH, and one about soil water content and evapotranspiration.

I looked through my photos from this year and chose these as favorites. I’ve added a little commentary about each one. Some are educational, some sentimental, some illustrative, some poignant, some just pretty.

I know this can use more explanation, because I’ve heard people refer to “their MLSN N” as being some amount. When I first heard that, I was taken aback, because nitrogen (N) is explicitly not part of MLSN.
